Flexible solar devices offer electricity off the grid. These devices are lightweight and flexible, some so small they fit in a pocket. The various models have different power ranges to work with all your electronic gear; IPod, cell phones, GPS, car batteries, and many other outdoor activities. Read the specifications to make sure the product works on the devices you plan to charge.
Global Solar, of Tucson, Arizona and PowerFilm, Inc. of Ames, Iowa manufacture and develop portable flexible or rollable solar devices. Global Solar’s Sunlinq products come with a regulator to prevent overcharging or draining an electronic device’s power. PowerFilm, Rollable Solar Charger refers to their product as truly rollable, as opposed to being somewhat flexible.
I found a few sites selling these products at varying prices. Prices for Sunlinq 6.5 watt product generally list’s around $99 and 12 watt for $195. PowerFilm’s products are sized at 5 watt $98 or 10 watt $178. Regardless of where you buy the product check what parts come with the main unit. Some buyers said the bought an accessory kit because they thought none was included and there was one.
Has anyone bought either of the portable solar chargers? If so, give us a review.
Here’s a video of one we tried.
